Environment Sheet. (Kyle Smith)

Environment Sheets.

Development:

This is my sheet that I'm going to put my environment and stuff on. It's really cute. Throughout my drawings I do everything in black and white as I'm most used to that and once I get my initial idea down, I start changed the colours. Through out my drawing process you'll see me change my outlines and trying different ones.

This is me blocking out my Environment. I really like how close and personal it is but as you can see I'm slowly starting to add colour and detail. When drawing sometimes the black gets me confused as sometimes, I need to render to see what I am envisioning. I prefer not doing so but I must to see if that's the way I want to go like with the stairs as I felt like my brain was frying with the amount of lines. For the door and blocked out chair, I used the eclipse tool in procreate to make a nice smooth rounded shape and then edit the shape to give it a more door shape.

Now I'm rendering. This process I usually block out colours and keep trying other colours with a clipping mask. Just to let you know the clipping mask lets you only edit the layer below and I use clipping masks to try different colours while not affecting the original layer. This time round, I already decided with my initial art. I've got something to admit. When I was to do my hieroglyphics, I got really anxious and doubted my ability to do them. So, I didn't do it. That's one thing I need to take away from this is to trust in my ability to do art and do it but I got shy.

Here an me doing the lighting from the drain in my art. I think lighting is somewhere I need to improve on but you can see how my initial art influenced this in multiple ways. Like with the lighting. Also with my bubble fungi, I placed them in a likewise golden ratio. I wanted to track the players attention to the gate and not the throne on top as entering this area, you are fighting whatever comes from that gate. I did the lighting but just using a normal brush and making the layer an overlay layer which gives it that light feels.

Just like the door I used for my environment. I did that for the whole throne. This throne feels empty right? That's because I wanted patterns and hieroglyphics Which I got to scared to add. Hesitation is my biggest weakness. However, Procreate comes with already implemented brushes. And within that I used the brush called Leatherwood to give it a really dusted texture.

This is my proudest thing I've done in this assignment yet. I love how I did it. When doing drawing like this I rough sketch it first and alter it as I please and after doing that I then fine line it and make it look more neat. This time I'm surprised I did well. With the little flesh wounds, what i did was after making the rough sketch I would go over it and remove some outlines and pull them backwards to make it look like a flesh wound.

For rendering it, I blocked it out in colour and after blocking it out in colour, I then create a clipping mask for each colour layer and go through it adding shadows and highlights. What was different between this and environment and prop designing. I'm more confident doing animals and humans then environment art. That something I want to work on with environment art.

Now putting everything in place, I find myself content with my work. I changed some small stuff like changed the layer for the light from overlay to exclusion. Which looks better and got rid of the dark patches in the light.

Now putting this together, I'm happy with it. To show more proof of my work, these should be a YouTube video of me making it all with a little sweet song which is copyright free. But if I did add copyright music, The post could be taken down or all monetisation for the video be blocked.
